Bellamy Young was born in Asheville, North Carolina on February 19, 1970. She was an actor who performed the role of Mellie Grant, who was the first Lady from Scandal for ABC. She also had a recurring part as Beth Clemmons on CBS's Criminal Minds. Also, she was a writer/producer with Shonda on Scandal, and Private Practice. The two shows were Private Practice and Scandal. She attended Asheville High School and graduated in 1987. In 1991, she graduated from Yale University, where she took classes in English and theatre. Young was a student for one semester on the British American Drama Academy, in England. Young has been vegetarian for more than 30 years, participated in the PETA campaign, Being Vegan Keeps Me Young in the year 2016. Young was a strong advocate for the adoption of animals from shelters for a number of decades, was the central character in two TV advertisements by The Humane Society of the United States.
